This morning we picked up Miley to come home. I am so shocked with how well she is walking on 3 legs. The doctor told us that “Dogs have 3 legs and a spare,” and from the way she has been going itis most definitely the truth. You can tell she is in some pain- rightfully so. She has pain medication to take the edge off. I took her outside for a potty break a little while ago. When she was about to do her thing, she did take a little tumble. It broke my heart, but she popped herself right back up and continued with her business. She currently has a bandage covering the incision. I think this helps me with the situation because I can just tell myself that her little leg is under the bandage. We will take her back this Friday to get that removed. They told us to put a shirt on her because it will help her from messing with it. I think she is going to recover really well. I think nights will be a little hard because she is used to sleeping with us and I think she will cry in her little area on the ground. Mind you I am also trying to sleep train a 10 month old. Wish us luck! This is notΒ going to be easy and it is going to be a long two weeks or so, but we will get through this.
I will update shortly.
My Bella lost her left front leg a year and a half ago and we swear she is faster on three legs then she was on four! The first two weeks are the hardest but you’ll be amazed how quickly they adapt. Dogs are so resilient and don’t feel sorry for themselves. I slept with my girl on our living room floor. She sleeps with us so I wanted to keep things as close to normal as possible. My husband put a dog pen around us at night to keep her confined and near me. Slow and steady to let her heal properly is important. I used baby tee shirts to cover her incision site they worked great. Best wishes for a speedy recovery! ππ»πΎβ€οΈ
We love you Benton’s and Miley looks great! See you soon! Xoxo
Welcome home little Miley! You did it girl. I’m so happy that she is doing so well. I was nervous about seeing Rusty’s incision but when the moment came it didn’t bother me a bit I just thought he looked amazing and if he didn’t care then I wouldn’t either – dogs are amazing at putting us at ease. Yes, the first week was tough and we had some sleepless nights but it did get better just hang in there.
You can definitely do this and I wish Miley a speedy recovery. Love those pictures!
Hugs to you and Miley,

WELCOME HOME ADORABLE MILEY!! :-):-)
Everyone here knows how cute tripawds are….but Miss Miley takes cuteness to snother whole level,! π
Yeah, you may have lots of interrupted sleep, or none at all, for a few nights.
Miley may have a few face plants as she adjusts her balance. Plus the pain meds make make her a bit unstable too, but it’s better than pain from the surgery!
Keep us posted AND keep these ADORABLE pictures coming!! π π
Love and hugs
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
